Back Pressure Valve
In response to industry demand National Coupling Company (NCC) has developed a new line of Specialty Valves, beginning with a Back Pressure Valve (BPV). This valve was designed to act as a fail safe closed valve for the umbilical line where chemicals are injected into the well at the sea floor. The NCC BPV was specifically engineered to ensure positive pressure within the umbilical line and to prevent sea pressure from crushing the supply line.

The NCC BPV is designed for life-of-well service with no intermittent adjustments. The valve is metal seated, leak free, repeatable operation. It has an operating pressure rating of 15,000 psi and an operating temperature range of 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C. Flow capacity is Cv = 0.1 at a fully open position with a pressure increase over a set point of less than 100 psi.

Sub-Plate Mounted Valve
In addition to BPV’s NCC has also developed a new line of Sub-Plate Mounted Hydraulic Control Valves (SPM) designed for blow out preventer control. The NCC SPM valve sizes range from ½” to 2” and are designed to flow under pressures up to 5000 psi. The SPM valve functions as a directional control device that is pilot operated either by direct means or solenoid operated. Once the valve receives the pilot signal it functions from a normally opened or closed position, either allowing or shutting off the high flow/high pressure circuit to function the blowout preventer rams, connector functions or the annular BOP preventer.
